Rising Stars Hockey is a program that is
dedicated to advancing the fundamental skills of the amateur hockey player.
While all skills are important, the corner stone of the game is skating. We
at Rising Stars believe that a foundation of physical fitness and skating
skills is essential to the player’s success.
Traditionally, hockey is taught to
students of the game in an all encompassing program where the focus is
largely on game play. From and early age, various elements of the game such
as stick handling, passing, shooting, and complicated offensive and
defensive systems are the sole concern of volunteer coaches. Frequently,
the one element of hockey that is overlooked is skating. In order to master
the better known elements of the game, the player must first be able to
skate efficiently. Skating efficiently means getting the most out of each
and every movement, or what we like to call, Power Skating.
From the after school street pick up
player to the seasoned travel player, any aspiring athlete can benefit from
improved skating skills. Once the student embraces the concept of power
skating, he or she can then begin to focus on all other aspects of the game.
